Prof. Ingolf Cascorbi, MD, PhD

Ingolf Cascorbi was born on May 9th, 1960 in Berlin, Germany. He was trained first as a biochemist at the Free University of Berlin and graduated in 1985, received a PhD from the faculty of chemistry in 1989 and stayed as research associate at the institute of biochemistry and molecular biology until 1992. In 1992 he finished his study of medicine at the Free University and joint the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology headed by Prof. Ivar Roots at the Charit, Humboldt University. Ingolf Cascorbi became a specialist in clinical pharmacology in 1998, received an MD in 1999 and finished his habilitation in 1999. In 2000 he was appointed as professor of pharmacology and toxicology at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University Greifswald, Germany in the group of Prof. Heyo Kroemer. In 2004 Ingolf Cascorbi was appointed as professor of pharmacology at the Christian Albrechts University Kiel and chair of the Institute of Pharmacology at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, Germany.

His major research interests are in the field of pharmacogenomics of drug metabolizing enzymes, particular P450 enzymes and NAT2 as well as ABC transporters, adverse drug reactions, and molecular epidemiology of complex diseases and chronic pain. Currently he is author of 130 original publications. Ingolf Cascorbi is member of several national and internal research societies, vice-president of the German Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and speaker of the subcommittee of pharmacogenetics of IUPHAR. He served as treasurer of the EACPT from 2003-2007 and was elected as chair of the EACPT in 2007.
